1. Donate Your Unwanted Used Furniture, Glassware, & Clothes
There's no better way to get rid of your unwanted items fast and that's to donate them. There's many local charities that you can donate these items too including but not limited to Salvation Army, Goodwill, Catholic Charities, etc. To find these local charities simply Google search "charitable donations near me"
2. Sell Your Used Furniture To Local Consignment Stores / Thrift Stores
What could be better than getting paid for your unwanted items? First if you have some furniture that may be unique, mid-century, or even antique simply snap some pictures and send them to your local Consignment store. You may be surprised at how much your used furniture may be. Another good way to get rid of your junk or even possibly get paid for it is to try a local thrift store. They will definitely take items that aren't broken, stained or damaged and if the items are good enough they may even purchase the items from you for a small amount. You should first try consignment stores though because you will get paid more by them then a Thrift Store. To find these stores simply google search "Consignment stores near me" or "thrift stores located near me" it will be worth your time and may just surprise you on how much the store will actually pay, well worth the small amount of time spent.
Also some thrift and consignment stores have their pwn trucks for pickups and deliveries so while you are on the phone ask them if they would be willing to pickup the items - they will definitely want to see pictures though.
As far as clothes you are better off trying the donation type stores as its unlikely a consignment / thrift store will pay yo for clothes unless they're designer clothing.
3. Sell Your Unwanted Clothes On Ebay, Etsy, Garage Sales & Facebook Marketplace
Another great resource for emptying your basement, attic or garage is by having a garage sale or posting your unwanted stuff online with Ebay for highly sought after collectibles and designer clothing, etsy is great for home made crafts and designer clothing, and finally larger used furniture and appliances that are in good shape you can resell on Facebook Marketplace which will offer a little more comfort now a days as opposed to the old days of Craigslist, at least now you can make sure the person isn't crazy looking and unload some of your junk for a little pocket change as well!
4. Why Not Put The Stuff On The Curb? Especially Metal & Appliances!
Ok so you have tried the above and are getting frustrated because you still cant walk through your garage? Well, if the items are good and not broken you will probably be able to just put them out on the corner or infront of your house. The best days to do this is Sunday all day and Monday all day. Sunday you will get people that will be on the prowl for discount shops, flea markets, garage sales, etc and on Mondays you will get a lot of local traffic that may be able to use the piece or if you have a lot of metal, your local unemployed dad maybe picking up metal for a couple bucks to get him by to his next job? 6. Have Unwanted Office Supplies or Furniture To Get Rid OF? Donate These Too!
You can contact your local SBA (Small Business Administration) office and see if they could help any new business owners by syncing you two up together. Start-up businesses are always in need of computers, monitors, even televisions, and of course office supplies. This will be a fast way to get rid of office type stuff and the bonus is they will probably pick the items up from you :)
7. Friends and Family May Want Your Unwanted Items?
Have you tried posting the items on your Facebook page for friends and family? You can also post the items on Facebook Marketplace in the free category if you didn't have any bites on trying to sell the stuff. Just be sure you spread the word through family and friends, the goal here is to recycle the items while getting rid of them for free at this point. Maybe ask your friends and family to hold a garage sale with you!?

8. Bring Your Remaining Junk To Your Local Dump or Transfer Station
If you can move and transport the junk yourself, most towns have a transfer station or a dump nearby. Try calling your city hall and asking them about local resources to get rid of your remaining junk. They will also, more than likely, have recycle that you can separate items into to, to properly keep your trash footprint as small as possible while still getting rid of your remaining unwanted junky items
9. Call A Local Junk Removal Company
If you can't move or transport the junk yourself - if you still have items left after trying all of the above we would recommend using a junk removal company because they will at least try to donate the items they take away from your property and will definitely recycle anything they possibly can just to keep their cost low when they finally get to the landfill. You may have to pay a little bit for this service (about $120 per pickup trucks worth) depending on the region you are located in, but at least items are being repurposed and reused.
10. Rent a Dumpster Or Use A Bagster :( Your Last Ditch Effort To Get Rid Of The Junk
If you can move the junk just not transport it, are on a budget, and dont care about the environment or can afford to care we hear you and sympathize, we have definitely been there. Thats why we would then recommend using a Bagster or renting a dumpster. Dumpsters can be rented fairly inexpensively and can get the job done but you will probably need people to help you load it, hopefully you have some friends lol - We hesitantly finally recommend the Bagster for property cleanouts, its typically cheaper than a dumpster but the problem here is they need it right next to the curb which could mean you have to carry items a long way. Also be warned ddont think your driveway will automatically work, there trucks are heavy and they dont like risking breaking peoples driveways for $150. Call before you buy a bag thats all we have to say and make sure you know exactly what to expect as far as services and fees.
